The easiest way into brush sanding: a flap wheel head that chucks straight into the 3/8" drill you already own. At about 2.5 lbs it's light enough for overhead and vertical work, and the flexible flaps sand profiles, curves, and details ten times faster and more evenly than hand sanding.
